Challenge finished!

It's only 31 days later, but I feel like I've learned so much. I'm constantly observing my surroundings to try and find a picture and decide on how to best capture it. I'm also enjoying what I'm seeing around me - it's great to rediscover places you've been hundreds or thousands of times!

I may not have strictly adhered to the ONE picture-a-day idea - it's hard to not want to share all the pictures you enjoyed taking.

And I was often inspired by my fellow challengees! Thanks to everyone who participated and took the time to share your pics with the rest of us. It's great to develop our own little community online around photography.

What now? It sounds like several of us photobloggers are going to extend and modify the challenge to "A-photo-a-week for a year". Details to come.

Cheers!
Chad

July 31st - Post-wedding and prairie drive

The real reason you need a car with a sunroof : transporting trees...

July 30th - Wedding

July 29th - Prairie sunsets and sculpture

July 28th - Balls of fire and departures

The advantage of a small airport like in Comox : it's easy to say goodbye once you're through security.

I saw a youtube video a while back describing how to make these balls of cotton that you light on fire and then you can roll them around in your hands and play with them. I took this a step further and wanted to make three of them so I could juggle fire. However, it turns out size matters and the big ones were burning my hands. But, I still got some pictures!

I like how I got the smoke on this one.

July 27th - Personified guitar...

So I've had this idea for a while, and I actually took it quite a bit farther...

That's going to be it for a couple days. I'm going to be travelling and going to a wedding, so pics for the last few days will be posted by the beginning of August.

July 26th - Tango and reflection

Tango!

July 25th - Bliss, rainbows and sunsets

July 24th - Wandering and kitchen dancing

And a little shout-out to the three lovely ladies who came to kitchen dancing wearing very similar outfits ... and some too big socks...

July 23rd - Beach and sailing

There's nothing quite like a relaxing sail home with the sun setting in the background. I am soooo going to miss the Comox Valley!

July 22nd - A nice day on the farm

July 21st - Meditation and little kids

July 20th - Light and blurred refraction

July 19th - Almost no pictures...

I only took two pictures July 19th - both of the same thing. Here's my attempt to make them mildly interesting...

July 18th - A walk at the marina

July 17th - B&W

July 16th - Another relaxing day on an island without electricity or internet

July 15th - First day on Reid Island

This was a really nice old couple I met in Chemainus. They were kinda quiet...

July 14th - More blurred out dance shapes

I'm back! After spending the weekend on an island without electricity (not to mention internet), I have much catching up to do with my picture posting. These pics come from some late night shenanigans after dancing at Grantham Hall.

July 11th - A new way to look at plants and flowers

So I was wondering how things would look at night when lit up by a flashlight. I headed out into my mom's garden around dusk with a headlight and my camera, braved the mosquitoes and got these shots.

July 9th - Airforce Beach

Walking along the beach, I saw something dart in front of my feet. I'd never seen a spider like this and it was particularly unnerving when I realized its back was swarming with its young.

This picture was thanks to my friend's excellent juggling skills!

July 8th - Running in Seal Bay

The lovely thing with digital cameras is there's nothing to lose in taking a picture while running. Along with this, I discovered how to play with saturation and contrast in my Preview software. I think this is the only way I can come close to decent painting!
